Happy Turkey Day!

Hello all and Happy Thanksgiving. It’s been a crazy month, thus no updates. So onto the breaking family news:

Nicholas is now in month 3 of ear infections. We brought him to the ENT who said that it looks like he has persistant fluid behind his eardrum but that he did not have an infection. 3 days later his eardrum burst and oozed blood and pus. Our doctor says that she would prefer not to, but more likely than not he’ll need tubes. She is sending us to an ENT group that specializes in children to be evaluated and see if there’s any other reason why he would be having so many problems. On the other hand, he’s a happy little bean. He’s walking really well (except for on Thanksgiving of course) and has a few words and a few signs that he uses. Usually he’s yelling “Bella” all the time. It’s cute. He chases his sister everywhere. She is still a little rough with him, but does adore him.

Yesterday during Thanksgiving, however, our boy took a faceplant onto the concrete porch and busted his upper lip open. There was blood, blood and more blood with a little screaming thrown in for good measure. But he did enjoy the turkey and all the fixings. The whole family was over for Thanksgiving and Isabella was able to play with her cousins all afternoon and evening which she enjoyed.

We’re still working on moving into the new house. Every night it’s another load or two of stuff then we have to get it put away. It’s almost harder than just packing stuff up into many boxes and having a group move it all over. We are living comfy in the new house now though and it’s starting to look and feel more like home each day. I really love this house. The back yard is perfect for the kids who play out there every day. Unfortunately we’ve had some plumbing problems but we’re getting those fixed too. We’re hoping to get the Heather Brite house on the market by the end of December (earlier if possible.)

Isabella is learning to roller skate. It’s hysterical to watch and help with, but she sure tries. She also decided that she wanted to go Black Friday shopping with us and got up at 6 am to head out in Papa’s van to all the stores. The only problem with that is buying her gifts. We got a few gifts for Nicholas’ birthday (next week!) I’m now in the mad dash to get a birthday party thrown together in a week. I can’t believe how busy work has been. The move and poor Nick’s dr appts have just pushed everything else to the background. Now it’s time to plan! He has to have a great birthday party because that’s a main staple of our family. We love our birthday’s. So today is day 2 of Nicholas’ birthday week. He really couldn’t care less, but that’s ok.

On another note, I just noticed that I have almost a full year of photos up and accessible on our blog. Now that’s impressive.

It’s all ours

And we couldn’t be happier. We closed on the house on Tuesday. Can you believe it! I don’t think Tim and I can quite believe it. Now for the really unbelievable part. We only got to go in the house 3 times last week. I ended up with the project from hell. It’s a fine project, just we underestimated the scope of it and there is no possible way it could have gotten done in the timeframe allotted. I’ll tell you though, it was not for lack of trying. I ended up working 2 weeks straight all day and into the evening until about 2 or 3 in the morning. Then come Wednesday I started pulling overnights. Working until 3 and getting up at 5. Working until 2, getting up at 4. For those of you who think it is impossible, you’re wrong. It’s not fun, it’s not pretty (I forgot I hadn’t shaved my legs all week when I went to pick up Bells, how sad!) but it got (almost) done. We got an extension on the project and of course the client decided he wanted to make some changes but alas, what are you gonna do? I’ll just keep plugging away.

Nicholas still has his ear infections. Added to last weeks work fun, we found he still had them and had to go in for 3 days straight for shots. On the last day of his shots it still hadn’t cleared up so they’re going to take a look at him this week and if it’s not gone then he’s going to the ENT. In other Nick News, he’s walking really well now. He walks across the room and can turn and pivot and play while walking. He’s very impressed with himself. What a cutie. Only 3 more weeks until his birthday.

Halloween was fun. Bella decided that this year she would rather go play than trick or treat, but that’s ok. Nicholas didn’t like the dark part of the evening but was thrilled to be able to play with my parents. They had him cracking up. He couldn’t contain himself. The party was nice although as soon as it ended it was back to work for me.

We had Kiki’s baby shower for Baby “Emerson” (unless they change the name.) It went very well I thought. I have a thing for flowers on cakes ever since Isabella’s birthday. So I’m guessing I’ll make a Thanksgiving cake this year with lots of flowers. I’m still trying to decide where to order Thanksgiving from this year. I’m also trying to figure out what to do for Nicholas’ first birthday which is the week after. Wow! We sure have filled up November now haven’t we.

So we’re going to attempt to move the big stuff into the house on Sunday. All hands on deck! We’re moving small stuff as we go along. Then we’ll have a garage sale the following week and get rid of the rest of the stuff. Then the house gets cleaned up and time to put it on the market. I’ll miss this house but as I told Isabella, we’ll take lots of pictures of it with us to the new house.

That’s all for now. Must get back to the project from hell. Hugs to all and see you in 3 weeks at the birthday party!
